Our client, a SaaS platform catering to music bands and their touring needs, provides a way for artists, managers, tour crews, and accountants to collaborate effortlessly. The platform simplifies tour accounting, planning, and payments, ensuring stress-free tours and transparent financial management for everyone involved.
Despite its robust platform, the SaaS lacked a key feature that was becoming a roadblock for their users: invoice generation for individual band members or companies. With bands needing invoices that detailed hundreds of expenses across spreadsheets, their existing platform couldn’t provide the functionality to automate this process, leaving them with a manual and inefficient workflow. They needed a temporary solution while they developed this feature.
We stepped in to provide a seamless solution, creating a custom invoice automation system based on CSV files the client sent through Slack. After studying their use case, we designed a system that automated invoice creation by gathering the necessary details from multiple spreadsheets, eliminating the manual burden.
To enhance the process further, we developed two presentation formats for the invoices, giving the client the flexibility to choose the one that best suited their needs. This was an unexpected but welcome improvement they hadn’t considered.
We communicated closely with the client via Slack, ensuring fast turnaround times. They sent their requests, we processed the files, and returned the completed invoices, all within a short time frame.
